Harford County has seen incremental steps in becoming a more bike friendly place with active bike groups, bike events, and a new bike master plan. To continue this bike friendly trend a local bike advocacy group is needed to unite cyclists and serve as a watchdog on the local government.
To help organize advocacy in Harford County, on November 10th Bike Maryland invites cyclists who live or ride in Harford County to meet at the Bel Air Library from 6 pm to 8 pm to discuss creating an advocacy group or network, brainstorm common challenges and successes, and prioritize what needs to be done.
No RSVP necessary. Please spread the word throughout the Harford cycling community and come prepared with your vision of a more bike-able county.
Bike Maryland is the statewide voice for bicyclists in Maryland, working with state agencies, legislature, and local groups to make Maryland a better place to ride. As part of our work we rely on local groups as our “boots on the ground,” keeping us up to date on successes and challenges while pressing for local improvements. We, in return, focus on state level issues and actors, weighing in to support local initiatives when necessary and advise local groups on their initiatives.
Please contact Emily Ranson, advocacy coordinator at Bike Maryland, with any questions or comments ahead of the meeting at emily@bikemd.org or by phone, 410 252 1603.
