On Sunday, September 14th over 400 riders turned out to the beautiful Jewish Community Center’s Camp Milldale for the largest Larry’s Ride to date. We started the day with bagels and coffee from Kismet Cafe in Eldersburg, donuts from Ms Desserts/Bakery Express, and of course bananas from Coastal Sunbelt Produce. Thank you so much to these great, local companies for their support of Larry’s Ride.
Riders started leaving Camp Milldale at 7:30 am, heading down the long, windy driveway and into the early morning mist. Katie Gore, of Bike Maryland, briefed riders on safety and gave a few cue sheet pointers before releasing them onto their ride. There were four routes to choose from: 22 miles, 35 miles, 65 miles, and 75 miles with a lot of climbing for all four.
Rest stops were stocked full of fruit from Coastal Sunbelt Produce, sandwiches with bread from H+S Bakery, and KIND Bars.
We then finished the day with burgers from Resnick Poultry and Meats, pizzas from Papa Gil’s, wraps from Kismet Cafe cake from H&S Bakery, chips from Utz, and beer from New Belgium! All in all, it was a fun day and we are looking forward to Tour du Port on September 28th!
Larry’s Ride would not be possible without the countless hours of planning and organizing from Tami Bensky and the Bensky family and friends! Thank you to all the dedicated volunteers for supporting this event year after year. A sincere shout out to our wonderful community partners and sponsors for making the event a celebrated ride!
